Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Numayr informed us, on the authority of Ubaydullah. He also narrated through another chain: Ibn Numayr narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: Ubaydullah narrated to us, on the authority of Nafi', on the authority of Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took a signet ring made of silver, and it was on his hand. Then it was on the hand of Abu Bakr, then it was on the hand of Umar, then it was on the hand of Uthman, until it fell from him into the well of Aris. Its engraving was "Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah." Ibn Numayr said: "until it fell into the well," and he did not say "from him."
