Yahya ibn Yahya al-Tamimi, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, and Muhammad ibn al-'Ala' al-Hamdani narrated to us — and the wording is that of Yahya — Yahya said: "He informed us," while the other two said: "He narrated to us" — Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever relieves a believer of a distress from the distresses of this world, Allah will relieve him of a distress from the distresses of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever eases [the hardship of] one in difficulty, Allah will ease [matters] for him in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever conceals [the faults of] a Muslim, Allah will conceal [his faults] in this world and the Hereafter. Allah is in the aid of the servant as long as the servant is in the aid of his brother. Whoever traverses a path seeking knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No people gather in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy envelops them, the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them to those with Him. And whoever is slowed by his deeds, his lineage will not speed him up."
