Qutaybah ibn Sa'id and 'Ali ibn Hujr narrated to us, both saying: Isma'il — meaning Ibn Ja'far — narrated to us, from al-'Ala', from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do you know who the bankrupt one is?" They said: "The bankrupt among us is the one who has no dirham and no property." He said: "Indeed, the bankrupt one of my nation is the one who comes on the Day of Resurrection with prayer, fasting, and charity, yet he comes having insulted this one, slandered this one, consumed the wealth of this one, shed the blood of this one, and struck this one. So this one will be given from his good deeds, and this one will be given from his good deeds. And if his good deeds run out before what is owed is settled, then some of their sins will be taken and cast upon him, then he will be cast into the Fire."
