And Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, and Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, and Abu Kurayb, and al-Ashajj, and Ishaq — all of them from Waki‘ — and Yahya ibn Yahya and Abu Kurayb narrated it to us, both saying: Abu Mu‘awiyah narrated to us — both of them from al-A‘mash, with this chain of transmission. And in their narration there is no mention of pouring three handfuls of water over the head. In Waki‘’s narration, there is a description of the entire ablution, mentioning the rinsing of the mouth and the snuffing of water into the nose therein, and in Abu Mu‘awiyah’s narration there is no mention of the handkerchief.
