And Shayban ibn Farrukh narrated to us — and the wording is his —: ‘Abd al-Warith narrated to us, from Abu al-Tayyah, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was the best of people in character. I had a brother called Abu ‘Umayr — he said: I think he said — he was weaned. He said: Whenever the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came and saw him, he would say: “O Abu ‘Umayr, what did the little nightingale do?” He said: And he used to play with it.
