Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah and Hasan al-Hulwani narrated to us, both saying: Abu Usamah narrated to us, from al-Walid ibn Kathir, who said: Bushayr ibn Yasar, the freed slave of Banu Harithah, narrated to me that Rafi' ibn Khadij and Sahl ibn Abi Hathmah narrated to him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade muzabanah — the exchange of fresh dates for dried dates — except for the owners of 'araya (palm trees sold for their fresh fruit), for indeed he had granted them permission.
