Abu al-Tahir, Harmalah ibn Yahya, and Ahmad ibn Isa narrated to me. Ahmad said: "He narrated to us," while the other two said: "He informed us" — Ibn Wahb informed me, Yunus informed me, from Ibn Shihab, with this chain of transmission, that she said: "Safiyyah bint Huyayy, the wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, began her menses during the Farewell Pilgrimage after she had performed the circumambulation of ifadah while in a state of purity," similar to the hadith of al-Layth.
