Yahya ibn Ayyub, Qutaybah ibn Sa‘id, and Ibn Hujr narrated to us; they said: Isma‘il narrated to us. (Another chain:) Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us—and the wording is his—he said: Isma‘il ibn Ja‘far informed us, from Muhammad ibn Abi Harmalah, from Kurayb, the freed slave of Ibn ‘Abbas, from Usamah ibn Zayd, who said:

I rode behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from ‘Arafat. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the left mountain pass that is before Muzdalifah, he made his camel kneel, then urinated. Then he came back, and I poured water for his ablution, and he performed a light ablution. Then I said, "The prayer, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "The prayer is ahead of you." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) rode on until he came to Muzdalifah, where he prayed. Then al-Fadl rode behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the morning of Jam‘ (Muzdalifah).
