Muhammad ibn ‘Abbad narrated to us, Hatem—meaning ibn Isma‘il—narrated to us, from Musa ibn ‘Uqbah, from Salim ibn ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar, and Nafi‘, the freed slave of ‘Abdullah, and Hamzah ibn ‘Abdullah, from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar—may Allah be pleased with them both—that when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had his mount standing upright with him at the mosque of Dhu al-Hulayfah, he would raise his voice in the talbiyah and say: "Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Indeed, all praise, grace, and sovereignty are Yours. You have no partner."

They said: And ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar—may Allah be pleased with them both—used to say: "This is the talbiyah of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him."

Nafi‘ said: ‘Abdullah—may Allah be pleased with him—used to add to this: "Here I am, here I am, and at Your service. All good is in Your hands. Here I am, and all aspiration is toward You, and the deed."
