Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us: Abu Mu'awiyah informed us, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from 'Amrah, from 'A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, who said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, intended to observe i'tikaf, he would pray the dawn prayer and then enter his place of seclusion. And he ordered his tent to be pitched, and it was pitched. He intended to observe i'tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan, so Zaynab ordered her tent to be pitched, and it was pitched, and other wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered their tents to be pitched, and they were pitched. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed the dawn prayer, he looked and saw the tents, and he said, "Do you intend righteousness?" Then he ordered his tent to be taken down, and he abandoned the i'tikaf in the month of Ramadan until he observed i'tikaf in the first ten days of Shawwal.
