Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to us: Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, from Sulayman al-Taymi, from his father, from 'Uthman, from Ibn Mas'ud — may Allah be pleased with him — who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Let not the adhan of Bilal — or he said, the call of Bilal — prevent any of you from your suhur, for he gives the adhan — or he said, he calls — by night, so that the one among you who is standing (in prayer) may return, and the one among you who is sleeping may wake." And he said: "It is not that he says like this and like this" — and he gestured with his hand and raised it — "until he says like this." And he spread apart his two fingers.
