And ‘Ubayd Allāh ibn Mu‘ādh narrated to us: my father narrated to us: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Jabalah, who said: I heard Ibn ‘Umar — may Allah be pleased with them both — saying: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “The month is like this, and this, and this.” And he clasped his hands together twice, with all of his fingers, and in the third clasp he withheld the thumb of the right hand or the left.
