And ‘Ubaydullah ibn Mu‘ādh al-‘Anbarī narrated to us: my father narrated to us: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from al-Walīd ibn al-‘Ayzār, that he heard Abū ‘Amr al-Shaybānī say: the owner of this house narrated to me — and he pointed to the house of ‘Abdullāh — he said: I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, “Which deeds are most beloved to Allah?” He said, “Prayer at its proper time.” I said, “Then which?” He said, “Then kindness to parents.” I said, “Then which?” He said, “Then jihad in the path of Allah.” He said: he narrated these to me, and had I asked him for more, he would have added more.
