Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Muqaddami narrated to us, saying: ‘Abbad ibn ‘Abbad narrated to us, saying: ‘Asim narrated to us, from Abu ‘Uthman, from Ubayy ibn Ka‘b, who said:

There was a man among the Ansar whose house was the farthest house in Madinah, and yet he never missed the prayer with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Ubayy said: We felt compassion for him, so I said to him: “O so-and-so, if only you bought a donkey to protect you from the scorching heat and to protect you from the crawling creatures of the earth.” He said: “By Allah, I would not love that my house were pitched beside the house of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.” Ubayy said: So I took his words as a heavy burden until I came to the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and informed him of this. He said: So he called him and said to him the like of that, and he mentioned to him that he hoped for reward in his footsteps. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: “Indeed, you will have what you intended.”
